Lake Shore Bike Trail Ride (9/18/2004)

The bike trail wasn’t quite what I was expecting. The name, Lake Shore Bike Trail, made me think it was along the lake shore, maybe a paved or boarded path along the beach. That would have been sweet. However, as one can tell from a brochure, it was a trail running along a road named Lake Shore Drive. I still held out hope that I would be riding close to the lake, near enough see it along most of the way, but there were a lot of expensive houses hiding the lake. Anyway, it was a nice ride. Here's a image I scanned (without permission, so don’t sue me) from the brochure I mentioned. We started at Holland State Park and went to Grand Haven State Park.

Holland State Park
Me at Holland State Park

Hey, I got pictures of me now!

Trying a few different angles. (I think Larry likes my camera.)
A park along the way aptly named Tunnel Park; it has a tunnel through the dunes. Here’s a shot through the tunnel out to Lake Michigan.
Still at that same park, looking back at the light house at Holland State Park. Larry said when he moved to Holland about 20 years ago, the water level high to reach the grass on the left side of the picture.

There were a lot of sail boats on the lake near the Tunnel park too.
Just some water. It looks better at full size....
We stopped at a few more parks, Kirk Park, Backyard Conservation Park,
but I didn’t take any pictures there. When we crossed Pigeon
Creek, we stopped too. Some guy fishing there tried to cast his
line below the bridge, but he aimed high and this lure flew
between Larry and me.
In Grand Haven now, and took out the camera again.
We went out the end of pier and took some pictures...
Need some more pictures of me to show when asked for pictures.
Should’ve checked my hair first.... :)
Saw a really nice sail boat in Grand Haven;
maybe it’ll come closer for a better shot.
Nope, that was about as good as it got.
Looking back at the pier...
More of me... with my helmet on?!
... or with messed-up, wispy hair?
Back at Larry’s house. Sherry took this picture just as Melissa popped her head out. :)
Another one...
And another. I think Sherry likes my camera too.
