Mac OSX (10.0 & 10.1) Dialup Setup
Follow these instructions to set up a Mac running OSX version 10.0 and 10.1 for dialup access with ACD.net.
- Click on the Apple menu and select System Preferences.
- Locate the Network icon and click on it.

- Next to Show click on the arrow box and select your modem (usually Internal Modem, but it could show a specific brand).
- Click on the TCP/IP tab if it is not already selected.
- Click the arrow box next to Configure and make sure it's set to Using PPP.
- Leave the DNS Servers box empty (this information will be provided by ACD.net).
- In the Search Domains box type: acd.net

- Click on the PPP tab.
- In the Service Provider field, enter ACD.net.
- In the Telephone Number field enter the access number your computer will dial in order to get online. This page is NOT asking for your phone number. For a complete list of ACD.net's dialup access numbers visit http://www.acd.net/numbers.htm. Once you have located an access number and entered it, click Next. **NOTE** ACD.net is not responsible for long distance charges incurred by the customer. Due to continuously changing local calling areas and increasing numbers of local phone carriers, it is the customer's responsibility to verify with their local phone carrier whether or not a given number will be a local call for them.
- In the Account Name field, enter your username with ACD (i.e. doe.john@acd.net).
- In the Password field, enter the password for your account. Please note that passwords are CASE-SENSITIVE, so if you did not specify to us that you would like upper-case letters in your password, then it is lower-case by default.
- Your PPP settings should now look like this:

- Click the PPP Options button.
- Make sure Connect automatically when starting TCP/IP applications is checked.
- Make sure the Prompt every 15 minutes to maintain a connection and Disconnect if idle for 15 minutes boxes are not checked.
- Make sure Disconnect when user logs out is checked.
- Set your redial options to whatever you like, and leave the rest of the settings at their defaults. Your PPP Options should now look something like this:
- Click OK to save your options.
- Click on the Modem tab.
- Make sure your modem is selected in the Modem window (for example most macs have Apple Internal 56K Modem (v.90) or (v.92) in this window). If there is no modem selected, click the arrow box to select your modem.
- Make sure Enable error correction and compression in modem is checked.
- Make sure Wait for dial tone before dialing is checked. **NOTE** If you have voicemail on the line you're using for dialup, you may want to uncheck this box. Most modems don't consider the stuttered dial tone that you get when there are messages waiting to be a valid dial tone. You can leave the box checked if you like, but if you get errors indicating that there is no dial tone when you try to connect, and you pick up your phone and hear dialtone and hear that you have messages waiting, you may want to come back here and uncheck this box.
- Make sure the Show modem status in menu bar box is checked. Your settings should now look something like this:

- Click the Apply Now button to save your settings.
- Close the Network window.
Your Mac is now configured to get online!
