Bill Korroch

was born in Lansing, MI and at the age of five moved to a farm near Eagle, MI where he attended a one room country school through the 7th grade. He then attended the Grand Ledge Public Schools where he graduated in the class of 1950. After graduation, he moved to Lansing and worked for the Secretary of State of Michigan for 8 1/2 years during which time he spent 2 years in the U. S. Army as a member of the 122nd Army Band.

He then attended Michigan State University for two years majoring in music and a member of the marching band, playing in the Rose Parade and Rose Bowl of 1957. In 1959 he left college and started working at Oldsmobile Division of General Motors in the computer department. He worked nights for 23 years, retiring in 1982 on total and permanent disability.

He keeps busy with several hobbies including collecting 45 R. P. M. recordings of the top 20 pop hits from 1954. Besides playing nineteen musical instruments, he arranges music for marching bands and other groups.

He is a life member of the National Genealogical Society and the New England Historic Genealogical Society. In over 40 years as a genealogist he has collected over 2,000 notebooks of research, and now uses a computer for most of this activity.

Upon the urging of several acquaintances, he established a genealogy Bulletin Board Service for genealogists in 1989. It operated until 2002. He enjoys personal contacts and is interested in sharing his knowledge and experiences in the areas of computers and genealogy.
