THE WHO WHAT OR WHERE GAME

        (MB 1970) Two editions

CONTENTS:
    Odds Board
    Four 'Lock-In' Cards
Two Question Books which combined contain 1,340 questions for 46 total games
(Each game conisists of ten categories with three questions in each category.)
    Milton Bradley Bucks (not shown)

GAME PLAY:
Players start with a stake of $125.  They are told a category and shown a set of odds for each of three questions (Who, What and Where) in that category.  In secret, each player choses one of the three W's and makes a wager up to $50.  High bid (or, often, the only bid) in a category gets to answer the question. (Ties are broken with a no-limit auction.)  A player wins his wager multiplied by the odds when correct and loses only his wager when wrong.  In the tenth and final category, there is no limit to the amount of the wager.

DIFFERENCES TO TV SHOW:
This is one of the very few home games which is played identically to the TV show.

CHANGES IN SECOND EDITION:
Virtually none. Aside from a new cover and different questions, the only cosmetic change is that the WWW logo on the Lock-In Cards is red in the second edition instead of purple.  Even the covers to the question books are identical, so nothing in the question books identify which edition they belong to.

COMMENTS:
The contestants on the cover of both editions are named 'Amy' 'Dan' and 'Janet'.  These are the names of producer Ron Greenberg's own children!
Similar to Jeopardy! (which it followed for a while on the NBC daytime line-up) The Who, What or Where game was a challenging quiz show.  Playing the home game today can be particularly challenging since the questions (which were taken directly from the show) frequently asked about events of the day, which in many cases are no longer as relevant as they were at the time.
Greenberg remade this series in the early 1990s as The Challengers.  No home version of that game was produced.
