Dear Friends of True Friends Have Fun,

I have received many questions on how to best see and hear The True Friends Internet Pages. I hope that I can be of some help to you on this subject.

Go to the very bottom of each page. Some of my best work is waiting there for you to find. Finding the fun is half the joy.

Some of the art is slow loading, but I hope that you will find that it was worth the short wait. Maybe you have some of your own computer art that you would like to share with everyone. Have you written a short story that you would like to share with the rest of the world? Attach it to an e-mail letter and sent it to The Editor. We will use only your initials and city in describing you.

Are the art and music not coming through? I must tell you that my browser is the Microsoft Internet Explorer and I also test with Netscape and AOL. I don't have any experience with the many other browsers that are available.

(1) The question that I get most often is how do I turn on the pictures?
Do you know what kind of browser you have? If you see 1 girl walking down the street in the picture below, you have the most advanced browser, like Internet Explorer or the newer versions of Netscape and AOL.

Out For A Walk By Levant E. Smith

To set your browser settings to view and hear everything on this site:
Print this page out and then you can review it while you are making the switch changes. Kids, ask your parents first before you make these changes.

In the Microsoft Internet Explorer, turning on the sounds and pictures is a matter of point and click. In the tool bar, click on Tools and then Internet Options. Click on the Advanced tab. Find and set the check marks for Play Animations, Show Pictures and Play Sounds. Now click on Apply and OK. Refresh or renew the screen and you are ready to enjoy the show.

If you can't find the Options or Settings functions in your browser, then you can double click on the spots where the pictures are hiding and they should download

So you have set all the switches and the sound or pictures still don't come through? Your browser needs special free programs called plug-ins to run these things. There is some good information about these on the Disney Web Site. Use the Disney search function to find what you need. Find out about the programs that are needed to view and hear things on the web. Most of it is free. Always do a virus check on downloaded programs and files.

(2) How do you attach files to e-mail?
Here again, I have the Microsoft Internet Mail e-mail program only. I can't tell you about the other e-mail programs.

In the tool bar of the Microsoft Internet Mail is an Insert function. Under that in the pull down list is an Insert File selection. This brings up an Insert Attachment screen. You select the file or files that you want to attach to your e-mail and then click on Attach. This brings you back to the e-mail screen and you will see that the attachment is at the bottom of the page. You can add as many attachments as you like.

Limits on attachments:
Some servers have a limit to the maximum file size that you can send. Some servers do not support attachments. The server for the person who is receiving your e-mail may have different limits than your server. One way of testing your own server limits is to send yourself an e-mail with attachments. Just put your own address in the To box and see how it comes back to you.

(3) Why don't some of your Site or page links work?
Sorry about that. Tell me which page and where on that page the error link is and I'll get it fixed immediately. There are a lot of little details in making a web page work. I have the utmost respect for someone who can make it all work well.

(4) Why is the print too big or too small?
In the Microsoft Internet Explorer's tool bar, click on the View option. Now click on Text Size. The fonts range from Largest to Smallest. I think that The True Friends web pages are best viewed at the Medium font setting. The monitor setting 800 x 600 pixels should do. This should be easy on very young and older eyes. You may find another setting better for your viewing comfort.

(5) How can I be sure that I have the latest edition of your Web Page?
To get the latest information, click on the Refresh or Renew Button. This reloads the page's information. Some Internet Service Providers (ISP) keep a copy of the pages you have visited to reduce their bandwidth use (AOL is one). In this case, refreshing the page will not help. Contact your ISP and ask them how long they keep copies of pages

(6) How can I Set the True Friends as a bookmark or make it a favorite?
Most browsers have a tool bar icon or a pull down list to do this for you. The browser takes some hidden information from the page and makes a reference to the URL (site address) that your browser is currently looking at. In most browsers you can create your own new folder that you can put your name on and keep your favorites in. This way you can keep all of your special interests together so that you can find them easily.

True Friends At Home

You can be a True Friend at home too. Clean up around the computer and return the browser and volume settings to where you found them.

Thank you for coming and enjoying True Friends Have Fun.
