Note:(This guide was made by duz ages
ago but most of it should still apply)
1. Download and install Newsbin Pro.
Get the latest version from the Newsbin
homepage.
If you need help with this step please return your computer to the
manufacturer.
2. Run the program from wherever you installed it.

Double-Click This!
3. Click on the Edit Server button.

Enter News Server information.
First the server name. This is for easy identification if you have multiple
servers.

Second the server address. If you do not know what this is, go
here
for instructions on how to find it.

5. Enter Login Information
If your newsserver requires log-in information enter that. Usually only pay
servers require this.

6. Enter advanced
information.
If the server supports multiple connections, enter the maximum allowed. Most
servers have a 4 connection limit.

If the server has a limit on how much you can download, enter that. Most pay
servers do have a limit.

10. Click the Config button.

11. Configure the operation settings.
Set the download path somewhere you'll remember
Connections gets set to the total number of connections you can have.
Remember to leave a connection free to retrieve headers.
Don't set retrys to infinite, trust me.
If your server has a high retention rate set Max Record Age to that.
Set First Time Records to something high like 10 million.

12. Configure the operation settings. [Part 2]
Directory Mode will save what you download into a folder named after the group
you downloaded it from.
Turn off thumbnails if you arn't downloading pictures or if NewsBin crashes
when you try to download.
Turn on Recycle Servers if you want to continually download.
Duplicate Filename Settings controls what happens when you download a file
that already exsists.
Automatic Modes will automate the process once you're a power user.

13. Back to the main
screen...
Turn off Auto Download, unless you want to download everything
in the group with out seeing what it is first.

Turn off Show Filtered Posts.

If you turn on Show Incomplete Posts some posts will have a yellow I next to
them. They are incomplete and you will have to wait till your server gets all
the parts (which might be never).

Only turn on Show Only New Posts if you don't want to see old posts.
14. Double click the group you wish to access.

The status bar at the bottom tracks the progress of the header download.

16. A list of available
messages will load in the main window.
Clicking on the column header will sort by that
field.

17. Double clicking on a row will download that post.
A post that hasn't been downloaded.
A post that has been queued to be
downloaded. (Ctrl+E)
A post that has been forcibly added to
the queue to be downloaded. (Ctrl+Y)
A post that is being downloaded.
A post that has been successfully
downloaded.
A post that is incomplete and can't be
downloaded.
A post that is no longer on the server
and can't be downloaded.
A post that has no attachment. Select
it and press Ctrl+R to read it.
